For 2021, we had designed this beautiful design as Block of the Month. We are now a few years on and this stunning design is still beautiful to make. Although it has ended as Block of the Month, you can still make this fabulous quilt. The pattern is still available and although the exact fabrics may no longer be available, there are plenty of alternative fabrics to make this quilt. And who knows, you might just love making this design in your own colors. We are looking forward to see them! While making this quilt, we aim to challenge quilters to experiment with new techniques and style while having fun and learning more about the BeColourful patterns in the process. And who knows, maybe you'll be so inspired after making this quilt that you'll want to make another BeColourful design. There is plenty of choice ;) With our helpful tutorials we'll guide through this glorious pattern every step of the way. My very first paper pieced quilt that I made had a feathered star. I really loved that star. So elegant, special and unique that I couldn't resist making it. But oh, how hard it was. Especially if you have no experience at all in paper piecing. You can see that if you look closely at the design from back then. The circles are not really circular and the star points don't fit in any way either. But now, after everything I have designed so far, it is time for a new version of a feathered star. I had 'Wish Upon a Star' ready for the 2021 collection and thought how fun it would be to make her in an another color palette. This design lends itself perfectly to that. And so the idea of designing 'Purple Sunrise' was born. The same design as 'Wish Upon a Star' but in beautiful orange and purple colors, like an amazing sunrise. Together with my sister Bridget, we took pictures and lots of short videos that we put together into instructive and helpful tutorials. I think these videos can be a great help in making this quilt. We wish you lots of fun sewing! |
The pattern
When you purchase the pattern for 'Wish Upon a Star', you will notice that it contains all the foundation papers and the instructional booklet. Using this booklet we will guide you step by step through this journey. The instructional booklet provides some General Points of Attention about the techniques, tips and tricks, and other useful information to help you with “Purple Sunrise” or "Wish Upon a Star". It is important to read these instructions carefully and we always recommend reading them more than once. These General Points of Attention will provide you with an understanding of how I work and will allow you to incorporate my techniques with your own knowledge of paper piecing. We will alert you regarding any updates or changes through our “Wish Upon a Star and Purple Sunrise Facebook group” and via our website; www.becolourful.com |
A little assistance in some parts of the process might be helpful.
That's why we made some helpful tutorials to guide you along the way. |
