Jacqueline's Collection - Inspired by fabricAt BeColourful, we not only love the bright colors of the Rainbow collection, but we also love the soft pastels of roses and flowers. They remind us of a summer breeze, the soft movement of lace curtains, humming birds, and beautiful blue skies.
It was a dream come true when in 2015 I was invited by Anthology Fabrics to design my own collection of batiks for Anthology Fabrics. Since then I design a number of new collections every year with a lot of pleasure. |
Be inspired by nature and select soft colored fabrics to make your own beautiful BeColourful quilt in blue, pink, peach, lime, delicate green and other Spring and Summer colors. Be happy!
However I have to say that I've designed a lot of different greens, reds, oranges, peach, blues and so many more colors for these collections…..you probably know me ;-)
In these quilts it’s easier to add or replace some fabrics from your own stash instead substitute dozens but we definitely will work with bright colors and screen prints and we will try to come up with stunning and eye catching designs.

Evendale
Level of difficulty: 5***** | Finished size: 53"x 53" | Foundation papers available: Yes | Technique: paper piecing
When Jacqueline finished 'Morning Glory,' she wasn't convinced she'd made a good color choice. She didn't like the red and orange and she didn't like the yellow either. Believe me when I say that we tried to convince her that it was beautiful and the pattern was gorgeous.
But no, at the very last moment, the collection was already completely finished, she decided to make 'Morning Glory' again, but this time in totally different colors. To be honest, that was easier said than done because we had to make a lot of fabric and color combinations to get to this result. Two weeks later she was ready. Luckily we found a very talented quilter in the Netherlands: Anne Lillholm, who did the wonderful quilt work. |
Sleep Well

Flavors of Fall
Level of difficulty: 3*** | Finished size: 60” x 60” | Foundation papers available: Yes | Technique: paper piecing
"Flavors of Fall" is one of the favorite designs in our collection. Years ago Jacqueline designed the incredibly popular "Black Beauty" (A little lower on this page) in beautiful purple and lilac colors. And at the start of her designing carreer in soft pink colors as "Sweet Melody". This quilt has been recreated exactly to revive the design but in beautiful fall colors. Elly Prins from the Netherlands took care of the beautiful quilt work. |
Wish Upon a Star
Level of difficulty: 5***** | Finished size: 63” x 63” | Foundation papers available: Yes | Technique: paper piecing
Jacqueline always wanted to make a Feathered Star once and here she is: "Wish Upon a Star". The basis for those colors is in the beautiful background fabric. Lynda Jackson of Capricorn quilting UK did the amazing quilting of this beauty "Wish Upon a Star" is our Block of the Month for 2022. |

Level of difficulty: 5***** | Finished size: 63” x 63” | Foundation papers available: Yes | Technique: paper piecing
When Jacqueline finished "Wish Upon a Star" she really wanted to make a color variation on this design and it became "Purple Sunrise". Breathtakingly beautiful in purple and orange. Two rather unusual colors to use in a design but together in this design they are incredibly beautiful. Just as in "Wish Upon a Star", Lynda Jackson of Capricorn quilting UK quilted this beauty. "Purple Sunrise" is a color variation of "Wish Upon a Star", our new Block of the Month for 2022. |
Summertime
Level of difficulty: 5***** | Finished size: 77” x 77” | Foundation papers available: Yes | Technique: paper piecing |
"Summertime" is a fabulous design and meant to make you totally happy. She is perfect as a wall hanging but also big enough to make her a bed quilt. Lynda Jackson of Capricorn quilting (http://www.capricornquilting.co.uk/) did the amazing quilting of this beauty |

Butterfly Garden
Level of difficulty: 4**** | Finished size: 65” x 65” | Foundation papers available: Yes | Technique: paper piecing |
Inspired by the popular design from a few years ago: "Summer Dream", Jacqueline found the time ripe to redesign this popular design. The fabric she had designed for her own fabric collections from Anthology Fabrics lent itself perfectly to this quilt. The small butterflies and beautiful flowers also inspired her in the name "Butterfly Garden". The design is not very complicated and the beautiful star in the middle lends itself perfectly to beautiful colors. We can imagine that you can easily make this design in countless great color combinations. We're in love the fabulous quilt work from Cindy Glancy of Dancing Thread Long-Arm Quilting. |
Lady of the Lake
Level of difficulty: 6****** | Finished size: 68” x 68” | Foundation papers available: Yes | Technique: paper piecing |
This is this year's most difficult design: "Lady of the Lake". Lady is a 6* design but so breathtakingly beautiful that we can imagine that you would dare to take on this challenge. And that's what we want: to challenge you to something you didn't think you could do. Was it last year our beautiful Block of the Month "Dream Flight", this year it is this gorgeous design. For this design Jacqueline has again chosen great colors. And if blue is not your favourite colour, surprise us with your colour variation. The quilt work in this beautiful quilt is done by the talented Cindy Glancy of Dancing Threads Long-Arm Quilting. |
Lavender Fields
Level of difficulty: 3*** | Finished size: 68” x 68” | Foundation papers available: Yes | Technique: paper piecing |
This is one of Jacqueline's favorites: "Lavender Fields". She loves this design with the big beautiful leaf shape. It gives this design an elegant look. But it's the colors in this design that are the exact colors she loves so much. The soft green and some blue with a touch of purple here and there makes this quilt into a picture. This design would also be beautiful in other colors like yellow, orange and pink. Or in different shades of blue. There are plenty of variations! Lynda Jackson of Capricorn Quilting (Sheffield, UK) has shown her talent in a great way. |
Flora Bella
Level of difficulty: 4**** | Finished size: 68” x 68” | Foundation papers available: Yes | Technique: paper piecing |
A beautiful name for a beautiful quilt: "Flora Bella". Freely translated from Italian as "beautiful flower". And I think that this is exactly what we show you. The colors are great: the soft orange with the strong green in a beautiful white background. The beautiful tight borders frame this design like a painting. The extraordinarily beautiful quilt work was done by Cindy Glacy of Dancing Threads Long-Arm Quilting. |
Dream Flight
Level of difficulty: 5***** | Finished size: 77” x 77” | Foundation papers available: Yes | Technique: paper piecing | 2018
Every year Jacqueline takes one of the 'old' designs to redesign it in a new one. And this years favorite is "Fly Away". Fly Away was the inspiration for this beautiful quilt and she was one of our most favorite patterns. The first edition was designed for the Hoffman Challenge in 2011 and Jacqueline won second place pieced with that beauty. The pattern was so successful that Jacqueline decided to re-design the original Fly Away into this glorious new quilt. The fabrics Jacqueline uses for this beauty are from her own batik collection by Anthology Fabrics. The stunning quilt work in "Dream Flight" is done by Cindy Glancy, a very talented longarm quilter and a delightful lady to work with. |
Miss Rosie
Level of difficulty: 4**** | Finished size: 76” x 76” | Foundation papers available: Yes | Technique: paper piecing
New York Beauties and beautiful flying geese in a glorious setting of fabulous colors. Inspired by the background fabric in pink, red, aqua and a touch of green, Jacqueline designed this beauty around those glorious colors. The result is a delight. The beautiful touch of the new striped fabric in a gorgeous pink, is a joy to look at. "Miss Rosie" is quilted by Lynda Jackson from Capricorn Quilting, Sheffield, UK. Lynda is a very talented lady and she's an inspiring longarm quilter. This quilt is one of the favorites of our new 2018 collection. And if you're not into the colors of this design, it's easily to choose your own favorite color combo and make this beauty in the colors of your choice. |
Walk in the Woods
Level of difficulty: 4**** | Finished size: 75” x 75” | Foundation papers available: Yes | Technique: paper piecing | 2018
All of Jacqueline's favorite colors combined in this gorgeous design. The lovely soft greens and the transparent blues making this beauty a symphony in elegance. The beautiful spiked pattern parts are breathtaking in their colors and the delightful translucent center will catch your eye in no time. The design of this wonderful quilt is amazing. From the soft and elegant center to the outer parts of this quilt where the dark blue fabric completing the whole design. The outer borders are a delight in color from the sky colored blue and the spring green to the dark harmonic outer sashings. In this spectacular design, Jacqueline uses 3 of her new striped fabric collection: green, blue and teal which complemented the colors perfectly. The beautiful quilt work is by the hand of Tammy Murphy of "Color me Quilted" in Canada. |
Serendipity
Level of difficulty: 4**** | Finished size: 69” x 68” | Foundation papers available: Yes | Technique: paper piecing
The gorgeous colors in this beautiful design are Jacqueline's favorites. The soft peachy shades and pinks are flowing into each other in a natural way. Jacqueline added some touches of brown to it and together they turn this traditional design into a breathtaking beauty. Although this design, a double weddingring, is a classic pattern, Jacqueline managed to turn this popular composition into a stunning beauty. As you can see, beneath the weddingring circles, there's that sophisticated checkerboard in luscious peach and pinks, divided by her favorite black-and-white striped fabric. Because of the motion in this design, Jacqueline added three beautiful borders to it, which makes this design stand out even better. The talented Lynda Jackson, of Capricorn Quilting, Sheffield, UK, is responsible for the fabulous and detailed quilting of this gorgeous quilt. |
Summer Breeze
Level of difficulty: 3*** | Finished size: 73” x 73” | Foundation papers available: Yes | Technique: paper piecing
Another breathtaking design. Summer Breeze in the gorgeous pastels of Jacqueline's batik collection. You know she designs her own fabric, right? Curious for her collections? Go to the button 'Fabric Collections', and you will fall in love with them. The soft pastels in this quilt are so gorgeous. From the powerful center to the faded stars and spikes. Accompanied by the striped black-and-white fabric this quilt is luscious and rich. The fresh colors are a festival of brightness and happiness. Summer is in your home with this beauty on your wall. Maybe you recognize the design. It was two years ago as "Making Memories" featured in the Spring issue of Quilters World. Now Jacqueline enlarged the pattern into this gorgeous wall hanging. In the detail picture you see the glorious quilt work of Cindy Glancy and Tammy Murphy |
Square Dance
Level of difficulty: 4**** | Finished size: 72” x 72” | Foundation papers available: Yes | Technique: paper piecing
Jacqueline's favorite quilt block; New York Beauties. Not only Jacqueline's favorite but a lot of quilters love to make a NYB block. You can do a lot with a block, you can make so many choices. It's never boring. The block itself has a lot of variations, by the colors you use, by the way you choose to make the spikes, the way you design the pattern. Jacqueline worked her magic on this fabulous quilt. The colors are stunning and the tracks of black-and-white stripe is wonderful. While she was working on this quilt, there were numerous variations to design them. One time she had them on her design wall as if the white points were evil eyes. As you can see we thought black fabric would work well with these colors, but it makes this design 'heavy'. With the white fabric this design is fresh and light and a joy to look at. The talented Cindy Glancy did some glorious quilting on this beauty. |
La Vie est Belle
Level of difficulty: 3*** | Finished size: 65” x 65” | Foundation papers available: Yes | Technique: paper piecing
It was not easy to came up with a name for this gorgeous quilt. But 'La vie est belle' suits just fine for this beauty. Jacqueline designed some lovely pastel batiks for the Spring Collection and uses them in this beautiful romantic quilt. It's a sweet and girly quilt and easily to enlarge to a bed quilt or to any size you want. This lovely new design is made in the new Spring Collection fabrics by Jacqueline and Anthology Fabrics. Tammy Murphy, Colourmequilted, did the amazingly beautiful quilt work. |
Arabian Nights
Level of difficulty: 4**** | Finished size: 62.5” x 66” | Foundation papers available: Yes | Technique: paper piecing
Years ago Jacqueline designed "Jewel", a gorgeous quilt in the beautiful rainbow colors. It was a successful design and that's why we decided to re-design this popular pattern. Now made in Jacqueline's fabulous batik collection with all those fresh and bright colors and a handful of solid batiks. The beautiful sharp points with the slightly curved spikes makes this design a challenge for everyone who's not afraid for curves. And the little stars are a brilliant touch of color in the heart of the spiked curves. You can play with all the colors you like, or maybe you'll choose to make this beauty in Christmas Colors in lovely greens and reds. The amazingly quilt work is done by Lynda Jackson of Capricorn Quilting, Sheffield, UK |
Labyrinth
Level of difficulty: 3*** | Finished size: 74” x 86” | Foundation papers available: Yes | Technique: paper piecing
This is "Labyrinth", a brand new design. Not only as a new design for the 2017 collection, but also totally different than Jacqueline's other newbies. You can call this an adventure. Inspired by an antique tile floor, Jacqueline adjusted the original picture into this stunning modern quilt. Choosing the batiks for this design was easy. Using all of her favorite batik colors complimented by her rainbow-with-a-stamp fabrics, she succeeded to make this quilt an eye catcher. In the heart of every block you'll see the black-and-white striped fabric coming back. It's always there, Jacqueline's signature fabric. The border is impressive, all the colors used in this quilt are coming back in the striped border. Fresh and modern are the words that comes in mind when you see this beautiful quilt. Cindy Glancy worked her quilting magic at this gorgeous design. |
Spring Fever
Level of difficulty: 4**** | Finished size: 68” x 68” | Foundation papers available: Yes |Technique: paper piecing
Years ago, in 2007, Jacqueline designed "Springtime", a lovely design in beautiful aquas and blues. This quilt, this pattern was a bestseller for years and because it came with templates only, Jacqueline decided to re-design this gorgeous quilt. The color choices are just as beautiful as the original and with a few fabrics of her fresh designed batiks, it became a fabulous quilt. Even more pretty as the original. Cheryl Harris took care of the perfect binding for this fabulous design. And what about the beautiful quilt work done by Tammy Murphy - colourmequilted.ca, from Uxbridge, |
When Summer Ends
Level of difficulty: 3*** | Finished size: 63” x 63” | Foundation papers available: Yes | Technique: paper piecing
In contrast of the quilts and designs of the Rainbow collection, Jacqueline choose the warm and deep colors for a Fall collection. And "When Summer Ends.." is hopefully the first of many in these warm and fuzzy colors. The gorgeous fabrics used in this design are Anthology fabrics and a few of theFall collection 2015 fabrics Jacqueline designed. It's not a difficult design and it will be beautiful in any color combinations. You can scroll down at the Rainbow Collection page and you'll find Kaleidoscope in the bright rainbow colors. All the credits for the stunning quilt work in this beautiful design goes to Cindy Glancy. Update for pattern parts A, AA, F and J under the 'update' button |
Something Blue
Level of difficulty: 3*** | Finished size: 70” x 70” | Foundation papers available: Yes | Technique: paper piecing
This is Something Blue, my favorite so far. It's an absolutely fabulous and sophisticated design. The blues in this gorgeous design are amazing, and they're so good together with the white, the starry and the striped fabric. The gorgeous quilt work is done by Elly Prins - machine quilting, The Netherlands |
Fire Dance
Level of difficulty: 4**** | Finished size: 66” x 66” | Foundation papers available: Yes | Technique: paper piecing
The colors of sunset and sundown, the colors of Summer days in the sun. It was not hard to choose a name for this beautiful and bold design. It's made in just 7 different fabrics and all from Jacqueline's new Spring Collection. Although this design is fabulous in all color choices, the yellows, oranges, pale yellow and the strong dark butterfly fabrics make this design a perfect wall hanging. It's easy to picture this design in your own favorite color scheme! The beautiful quilt work is from Cindy Glancy |

Indian Summer
Level of difficulty: 3*** | Finished size: 58” x 58” | Foundation papers available: Yes | Technique: paper piecing
Indian Summer, a brand new design, and the first quilt Jacqueline made of the freshly new designed fabrics. And they're gorgeous. The colors in this quilt, 28 in total, are so bright and colorful. If you ask me: “what is your favorite color”, I would say: definitely orange… But when I was thinking about how beautiful orange is as a color, or as an color accent in a quilt, I realize that I only have made one orange quilt: Indian Summer. And seven or eight purple quilts! I love purple as a background fabric in my quilts. Purple compliments each color and makes a quilt sometimes brighter than dark blue or black. Yes, I would definitely say…. orange and purple are my favorite colors! The beautiful quilt work is done byTammy Murphy - colourmequilted.ca, from Uxbridge, Ontario - Canada |
Black Beauty
Level of difficulty: 3*** | Finished size 59” x 59” | Foundation papers available: Yes | Technique: paper piecing
Black Beauty is the substitute for Sweet Melody. This quilt is gorgeous to see and easy to make! The curves are gentle and are easy to pin and stitch and with the easy to follow instructions and drawings this is the quilt to step into the world of BeColourful and get addicted to one of the stunning paper pieced of my designs. Are you in and you want to do something different this is your moment! |
Magic Forest
Level of difficulty: 4**** |Finished size: 55” x 55” | Foundation papers available: Yes | Technique: paper piecing
This is such a marvelous design. It's the remake of Pretty Purple in a complete different color scheme Jacqueline used to work with. Jacqueline calls them "muddy", but I think they're just gorgeous. The blues in this design lightens up the quilt, and the faded yellows are so wonderful and make this design a stunning quilt. Tammy Murphy - colormequilted.ca, from Uxbridge, Canada, is responsible for the stunning quilt work. |
Carousel
Level of difficulty: 2** | Finished size: 74"x 74" | Templates
This bright and colorful quilt is designed by Jacqueline and made by Bridget. The first quilt she ever made, and specially made for the beginner. And yes, Bridget is a beginner. This is what she said about making this quilt. "I suggest every beginner to start with a design like this. It's easy, it's a pattern that repeats itself, and you can make it just as large or small as you want it to be." Don't think adding the black and white is difficult to do, because I can tell you it's really very easy. Much easier than sewing all the pieces together without the stripes. Elly Prins - machine quilting, from the Netherlands did the beautiful quilt work. |
Better Together
Level of difficulty: 2** | Finished size: 50"x 50" | Templates
Better Together was the second quilt Bridget made. And this one was a joy to make. It was great to work with these gorgeous fabrics. And this design is just slightly more difficult than Carousel. What makes this quilt special is the bright and colorful pieces together with the gorgeous pastel colors. Those two combined make this quilt a joy to look at. Notice the lovely quilt work from Elly Prins - machine quilting, with the flowers and the dragon flies. |
Wheel of Fortune
Level of difficulty: 4**** | Finished size 75" x 75" | Foundation Papers available: Yes | Technique: paper piecing
If you take a close look to "Wheel of Fortune" and "Stars of Light" you recognize the star circles and the piano border parts. And indeed it is almost the same pattern and the same size. I have made two different versions of this beautiful pattern. That is also the reason why you find one quilt and two different centers in the pattern. You have two opportunities in the pattern and you can decide which quilt you want to make: "Wheel of Fortune" or "Stars of Light". That’s why you find two covers, two backsides, two fabric descriptions and two booklets in the pattern.
In "Stars of Light" I have used my favorite star: the Lone Star. But because this quilt is so nice I also have made another star in the same background pattern parts, I know not everybody love black and with these two different versions you can make your own stunning BeColourful quilt.
In "Stars of Light" I have used my favorite star: the Lone Star. But because this quilt is so nice I also have made another star in the same background pattern parts, I know not everybody love black and with these two different versions you can make your own stunning BeColourful quilt.
Christmas Dreams and Heavens Light
Christmas Dreams | Level of difficulty: 3*** | Finished size: 70" x 35" | Foundation papers available: Yes | Technique: paper piecing
Every year I have told myself this is the time to make a new quilt for the Holidays… and I did. I have designed Christmas Dreams... It is a nice wall hanging or table runner. The six pointed star is so elegant when you turn the star points on one point. I have embellished the outside of the star with my favorite Swarowki's and when the sparkles catch the light …. It is Christmas... |
Heavens Light | Level of difficulty: 3*** | Finished size: 35" x 35" | Foundation papers available: Yes | Technique: paper piecing
Once I had finished Christmas Dreams… Bridget thought that this pattern would also be nice with only one star. Indeed it was a wonderful idea and I made this little wall hanging in a day. You start with the six star points and the small piano borders. It is not a difficult quilt and when you follow the instructions you will see how easy it is to cut the fabrics in a very fast way. If you have not enough time to make Christmas Dreams… and you want a small new wall hanging for the Holidays… I can tell you that this is such a lovely quilt to make by yourself or with your friends or quilt bee. The patterns: Heavens Light and Christmas Dreams… are in one pattern. |
Cosmati Stars
Level of difficulty: 4**** | Finished size 36” x 36” | Copy or trace for personal use | Technique: paper piecing
Cosmati Stars is a story on it self… After winning an Honorable Mention with Elements of Nature in 2010, the Second place pieced with Fly Away in 2011 in the Hoffman Challenge, the goal was clear: We had to complete the list with the first place! The fabrics were beautiful and the design was great! The piecing was done and the result was perfect. Only the quilting had to be done, and as our standards were quite high we were looking for a great “new” quilter. Now we had seen some work from a famous Irish quilter and we decided to grant her the order to quilt this quilt for the ultimate goal: The first prize!! All our hopes were on this quilter. She knew the challenge: To quilt for a contest and return it as soon as possible, as I had to finish the quilt and glue the Hot Fix Swarovski ® crystals. Unfortunately this quilter did not keep her promise and we received the quilt back on the last day of the entrance of the contest. We have done everything to still be able to present it, but the rules are clear and we were too late… So no entry in 2012 from BeColourful… The design, however, is very nice and inspired by Cosmati tiles in the churches in Italy. They call the craftsman in Italy Cosmati. They make these stunning marble floors by hand and they are still so beautiful to see after so many ages. I admire these craftsmen very much. |
